Series description

In 2030, the Kessler Cascade ends the connected world in an afternoon. Jason and Marie Wilder had prepared for hard times — not for being separated across a country coming apart at the seams. Across three books, The Refuge follows the Wilders and the people who gather to them as they hold a mountain sanctuary through a second American civil war: the walls they build, the neighbors they take in, and the harder question underneath all of it — whether faith and mercy can survive when survival itself is on the line.

It is a survival story with a conscience: grounded in the practical texture of grid-down life, but centered on family, community, and the cost of keeping your humanity when the lights go out.

About the author

Michael Bath is the author of The Refuge series. He writes character-driven survival fiction that takes both catastrophe and conviction seriously — stories where preparation matters, but where the deciding factor is always the people. Book One is available now; Books Two and Three continue the Wilder family’s stand.
